Baby Baton — Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 2026

Introduction

Welcome to Baby Baton. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use our iOS and Android application. Baby Baton is a shared baby-logging app that lets two or more caregivers — parents, grandparents, nannies — log feeds, sleep, nappies and medicine for a child, and see each other's entries update in real time.

The short version: Baby Baton needs an account and a small amount of cloud storage to make live sync between caregivers work — that's the whole point of the app. We store your account details and whatever you log about your child, shared only with the caregivers you specifically invite into your household. We don't sell your data, don't run ads inside the app, and don't use it for anything other than running the app itself.

Account Information

Creating a Baby Baton account requires an email address and a password (handled by Firebase Authentication, a Google service). We also store the display name you enter at sign-up, so other caregivers in your household can see who logged what. We use your email address only to manage your account — sign-in, email verification, password reset, and (if you choose to delete your account) confirming that request. We do not use it for marketing.

Household and Child Data

When you create a household, you (as the household's owner) can invite other caregivers to join by sharing an invite code, which you approve before they gain access. Everyone in a household sees the same shared data:

This data is stored in Firebase (Google Cloud infrastructure) and is only ever visible to the caregivers who are members of that specific household — never to us for any purpose beyond operating the app, and never sold or shared with advertisers or data brokers.

Voice Logging (Shortcuts)

If you opt in to voice logging from Settings (iOS only), Baby Baton generates a household- scoped access token so an iOS Shortcut you set up yourself can log events by voice, without signing in each time. This token is stored securely and can be revoked at any time; it grants the same access a signed-in caregiver already has, nothing more.

Subscription and Payment

Baby Baton offers a free trial period, after which continued use requires an active subscription, purchased through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Payment is handled entirely by Apple or Google — we never see or store your card details. We receive and store only whether your subscription is currently active and when it expires, so the app can check your household's access.

Data We Do Not Collect

Data Retention and Deletion

Your data is retained for as long as your account and household exist. You can permanently delete your account and its data at any time, either from within the app (Settings → Delete account) or from our web-based account deletion page, which uses the same email-based verification as signing up, so only the genuine account owner can act on it.

If you are the owner of a household, deleting your account permanently deletes the entire household — every child profile, every logged event, and every medicine — for all caregivers in it, since there is no one left to hold the household's subscription. This cannot be undone. If you are a caregiver who was invited into someone else's household, deleting your account only removes your own membership and access; the household and its data remain intact for the other caregivers.

Children's Privacy

Baby Baton is designed to be used by adult caregivers about their child — the app itself is not directed at or intended to be used by children, and does not knowingly collect account information from anyone under 16. The child profile data described above (a name and, optionally, a month/year of birth) is entered by a parent or caregiver, not by the child.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
